The Starclassic series represents the pinnacle of Tama's production drum kit manufacturing. The choice of shell material has a profound impact on the tonal character of a drum kit. Maple shells produce a warm, full-bodied tone with a strong fundamental and excellent projection — the most versatile choice for a wide range of musical styles. Walnut/birch shells produce a warmer, darker tone with enhanced low-frequency depth, suited to styles where a more vintage or organic sound is desired. Bubinga — an exceptionally dense African hardwood — produces a powerful, focused tone with outstanding projection and sustain, making it the choice for drummers who need maximum volume and presence.

The Iron Cobra bass drum pedal has been one of the most widely used professional pedals in the world since its introduction.
