Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme - Save 20% on Your New Instrument
Who wouldn't want to buy a musical instrument without paying the VAT? The Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme (AIPS) is a government scheme that allows eligible students to purchase brand new musical instruments VAT-free - saving 20% off the price. Into Music Store is happy to support families and schools taking advantage of this scheme.
With VAT currently at 20%, this is a significant saving - particularly on larger purchases like drum kits, electronic kits, and cymbals.
How It Works
- Check with your school - Confirm with your school or academy that they are willing to assist you with the scheme. Not all schools participate, so this is the essential first step.
- Choose what you want to buy - Browse our range and decide what you'd like to purchase. Get in touch with us at info@intomusicstore.com and we'll provide you with a formal quote to take to your school.
- Submit your quote and payment to the school - Provide the school with our quote along with your payment. The school will handle the order on your behalf.
- The school places the order - Your school will contact us with an official purchase order. We'll process the order VAT-free under the scheme.
- Goods are dispatched to the school - We'll send the instrument directly to the school for you to collect from them.
- The instrument is yours - The goods belong to you, not the school. They are simply assisting with the purchase process to enable the VAT exemption.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme, the following conditions must all be met:
- The student must be in full-time education and receiving music tuition at school
- The student must not attend a private or fee-paying school - the scheme applies to state-funded schools only
- The instrument must be brand new - used or pre-owned instruments do not qualify, as there is no VAT included in the price of second-hand goods
- The instrument must be portable
- Goods must be collected from the school - they cannot be collected from our store or delivered directly to your home
