Ludwig was founded in Chicago in 1909 by William F. Ludwig Sr. and his brother Theobald, and has been at the centre of popular music ever since. The company's early innovations in bass drum pedal design helped establish the modern drum kit as we know it, and their instruments have been played by some of the most celebrated drummers in history — from Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich in the jazz era to Ringo Starr, John Bonham and Keith Moon in the rock era.
