The Ludwig P88AC Snare Throw-Off & P35 Butt Plate is a genuine Ludwig replacement and upgrade kit for compatible Ludwig snare drums.
Developed as the modern replacement for Ludwig's classic P85 strainer, the P88 features a robust cast design with Wave-Lock technology in the tension knob, helping maintain consistent snare-wire tension during playing.
The P88 throw-off is designed to fit Ludwig snare drums previously using P83, P85 and P86 throw-offs, making it a popular upgrade for older Ludwig snares.
The kit also includes Ludwig's P35 low-mass butt plate, designed to minimise shell contact.

Compatibility
The P88 throw-off is designed as a replacement for Ludwig P83, P85 and P86 strainers and uses 63.5mm mounting-hole spacing.
However, don't assume the included P35 butt plate will directly replace every older Ludwig butt plate. Its mounting-hole spacing is 46mm, so we recommend checking the existing holes on your snare before ordering.
The P88AC/P35 combination is also fitted as standard to many modern Ludwig USA snare drums, including models from the Supraphonic, Black Beauty, Copperphonic and other ranges.
