Make a Day of It - A Guide to Visiting Into Music Store
We know that many of our customers travel a long way to visit us - and we think that deserves more than just a quick in-and-out. Horncastle and the surrounding area of Lincolnshire is genuinely worth exploring, so we've put together our personal guide to making a proper day (or even a weekend) of your trip to see us.
Whether you're a drummer on a mission, dragging a reluctant partner along for the ride, or making a family trip of it - there's plenty to keep everyone happy.
Where to Stay
- The Admiral Rodney - a classic Lincolnshire inn right in the heart of Horncastle. Comfortable, characterful, and perfectly placed for an early start at the shop.
- The Leagate Inn - a beautiful historic inn a short drive from Horncastle, with great food and a proper country pub atmosphere. A favourite of ours.
Where to Eat and Drink
- Harpar's Bar, Horncastle - our local favourite and one you may have heard us mention once or twice on the vlogs. Great atmosphere, great food. A must.
- Franc's Burgers, Horncastle - proper burgers, no fuss. Exactly what you need after a morning in the shop.
- The Leagate Inn - not just a great place to stay, but one of the best dining spots in the area too.
- Flair Bistro, Coningsby - a short drive away, Flair Bistro is a lovely spot for a relaxed lunch or dinner.
- Slow Rise Pizza, Lincoln - if you're heading into Lincoln, Slow Rise is one of the best pizza spots in the county.
- Nonna Juana Deli, Lincoln - a brilliant Italian deli in Lincoln, perfect for lunch or something special to take home.
Things to Do in Horncastle
- Antique Shops - Horncastle is famous for its antiques scene and has been a destination for collectors for decades. There are numerous independent dealers dotted around the town centre - you never know what you might find.
- Old Hat Guitars - visiting with a guitarist friend? Old Hat Guitars is a fantastic independent guitar shop right here in Horncastle. Just make sure they don't spend all their money before they get to us.
- Roman Town Trail - Horncastle dates back to Roman times, when it was known as Banovallum. Remnants of the original Roman wall are still visible in the town, and a self-guided trail takes you past the key historic sites.
Woodhall Spa - 10 Minutes Away
Woodhall Spa is one of Lincolnshire's most beautiful villages, just 10 minutes from our door. Often called the Jewel of the Lincolnshire Wolds, it's an elegant, tranquil place with Edwardian character, pine woods, and a fascinating history.
- The Kinema in the Woods - one of the most unique cinemas in the UK, set in the pine woods and showing films since 1922. Still uses a rear projection system - the only one of its kind still operating in the country. A genuinely special experience.
- The Outdoor Pool - Woodhall Spa's open-air swimming pool is a Lincolnshire institution. Heated, but outdoors. Character building.
- The Petwood Hotel - served as the officers' mess for 617 Squadron (the Dambusters) during the Second World War. Steeped in aviation history and well worth a visit for a coffee and a look around.
- Woodhall Spa Golf - home to the National Golf Centre, one of the finest courses in England. A bucket list round if you play.
Lincoln - 30 Minutes Away
Lincoln is one of England's most historic cities and an absolute must. Allow at least half a day.
- Lincoln Cathedral - one of the finest Gothic cathedrals in Europe. The walk up Steep Hill to reach it is part of the experience.
- Steep Hill - the medieval street leading up to the cathedral, lined with independent shops, galleries, and cafes. One of the most characterful streets in England.
- Lincoln Castle - home to one of only four surviving copies of Magna Carta. The Victorian prison and wall walk are both brilliant.
- The Brayford Waterfront - a great spot for a drink or a meal, with plenty of bars and restaurants overlooking the water.
- The Collection Museum - Lincoln's archaeology and art museum, covering the county's history from prehistoric times to the present. Free entry and genuinely impressive.
The Coast - 30 Minutes East
- The North Sea Observatory, Chapel St Leonards - a stunning piece of contemporary architecture right on the beach, with a cafe, viewing gallery, and free parking. One of Lincolnshire's hidden gems.
- Skegness - classic British seaside. Fish and chips, amusements, and a bracing walk on the beach. Worth a trip to say you've been.
- Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve - just south of Skegness, a beautiful stretch of dunes, saltmarsh, and beach. Great for birdwatching and a peaceful walk - a world away from the arcades.
For the Partners (The Bribe Section)
We know the drill. Sometimes a trip to a drum shop requires a little negotiation. Here's our best offering:
- Laceby Manor Golf and Spa - our favourite spa, and the perfect way to say thank you to whoever drove you here. A very worthwhile investment in future drum-buying goodwill.
Or... Just Spend the Day With Us
Of course, you could always just spend the entire day at Into Music Store. We have a lot to look at - new drums, pre-owned kits, cymbals, hardware, sticks, heads, and more arriving all the time. The kettle is always on, and we genuinely love talking drums with anyone who walks through the door.
We should mention: the record for the longest time a customer has spent with us in a single visit is 9.5 hours. We're fairly sure he brought a packed lunch. He was here longer than Olly - and Olly works here.
Whether you're in for five minutes or five hours, you're always welcome. Come and say hello.
