Istanbul Agop 20" Sultan Ride Cymbal

Istanbul Agop Sultan 20" Ride Cymbal

The Istanbul Agop Sultan 20" Ride Cymbal delivers a dark, warm and complex ride sound with the organic character associated with traditional Turkish cymbal making. Handmade in Turkey, the Sultan Series combines lathed and unlathed surfaces to create a distinctive balance of stick definition, controlled dryness and rich musical overtones.

The versatile 20" diameter offers an excellent balance between articulation, body and responsiveness. Stick definition remains clear across the bow while sitting naturally within a warm, complex wash, producing an expressive ride sound that responds beautifully to changes in playing dynamics.

A defining feature of the Istanbul Agop Sultan Series is its combination of traditionally lathed areas with raw, unlathed sections. This distinctive construction blends the openness and warmth of a lathed cymbal with the darker, drier qualities of an unlathed surface, giving the Sultan Ride its recognisable tonal character.

Played lightly, the 20" Sultan Ride offers articulate sticking and subtle texture. Increase the intensity and the cymbal develops a broader, richer wash, while playing towards the edge introduces additional expression and crash/ride potential.

Its combination of definition, warmth and tonal complexity makes it a versatile choice for jazz, fusion, funk, acoustic, alternative and studio applications.

Why Choose the Istanbul Agop Sultan 20" Ride?

The Istanbul Agop Sultan 20" Ride is an excellent choice for drummers looking for a versatile ride with warmth, articulation and plenty of individual character. Its 20" diameter provides a focused response while retaining enough body and complexity for expressive playing.

The combination of lathed and unlathed surfaces gives the Sultan Series a distinctive balance of openness and dryness, making this a great alternative for players who find conventional bright ride cymbals too clean or one-dimensional.

As a traditionally handmade cymbal, individual Istanbul Agop cymbals can vary slightly in weight, appearance and tonal character. Want to hear this exact cymbal before ordering? Contact the Into Music team and we'll be happy to provide a sound file where available.
