Istanbul Agop 21″ Mel Lewis Ride

Istanbul Agop Mel Lewis 21" Ride Cymbal

The Istanbul Agop Mel Lewis 21" Ride Cymbal delivers a warm, dark and richly complex ride sound inspired by legendary jazz drummer Mel Lewis. Handmade in Turkey using traditional cymbal-making techniques, this signature ride combines articulate stick definition with an expressive wash and beautifully organic tonal character.

The versatile 21" diameter strikes an excellent balance between the focus of a smaller ride and the depth and spread of a larger cymbal. Stick definition remains clear and musical across the bow, supported by a warm bed of complex overtones that gives every note depth without becoming overly bright or clinical.

Dynamic and highly expressive, the Mel Lewis 21" Ride responds naturally to changes in touch and playing intensity. At lower volumes it produces delicate articulation and subtle tonal texture, while stronger playing introduces a broader, richer wash with plenty of traditional cymbal character.

Its balanced size and expressive voice make the 21" Mel Lewis Ride particularly well suited to jazz, big band, fusion, acoustic music and studio applications. It is an excellent option for drummers who want a ride capable of providing both detailed articulation and a rich, musical foundation.

The Istanbul Agop Mel Lewis 21" Ride is an excellent choice for drummers looking for a traditional ride with warmth, articulation and plenty of tonal complexity. Its 21" diameter provides a particularly versatile balance, offering more depth and spread than a typical 20" ride while remaining focused and responsive.

For players who prefer a darker, more organic ride sound rather than an overly bright or highly processed character, the Mel Lewis 21" Ride offers a beautifully expressive voice with the nuance expected from a traditionally handmade Istanbul Agop cymbal.

As a traditionally handmade cymbal, individual Istanbul Agop cymbals can vary slightly in weight, appearance and tonal character. Want to hear this exact cymbal before ordering? Contact the Into Music team and we'll be happy to provide a sound file where available.
