The JBL BandBox Solo is a compact portable practice amp and Bluetooth speaker that helps you get more from the songs you love. For drummers, its standout feature is Stem AI: remove the recorded drums from a streamed track and make room for your own groove. With 18W RMS output, one guitar/microphone input and built-in practice tools, it's also a handy companion for guitarists and singers.

Why we love it for drummers

Playing along to a recording can make it difficult to hear where the original drummer ends and your performance begins. The Solo lets you isolate or remove drums in real time, giving you a way to study a pattern, then practise your own part against the rest of the music.

Use it to explore fills, learn arrangements or work on locking in with the bass line. The onboard metronome supports focused timing practice, while its compact format makes it easy to keep close to your practice space. Think of it as a personal backing-track and learning tool, rather than a replacement for a larger rehearsal speaker.

Play along with Spotify & Apple Music

Pair your phone or tablet with the Solo over Bluetooth, then play a track from a streaming service such as Spotify or Apple Music. The music plays from your device, and Stem AI processes the incoming audio on the BandBox to isolate or remove drums, vocals or guitar in real time. You can work with your usual playlists without first creating separate backing tracks.

Useful for guitarists & singers too

The single guitar/microphone input keeps the setup straightforward. Guitarists can explore vintage and modern amp models plus effects including phaser, chorus and reverb, with presets and sound customisation through the JBL One app. Singers can remove the recorded vocal to practise their own melody against the accompaniment. A tuner, pitch shifter and looper add more ways to develop ideas.

JBL BandBox Solo key specifications

  • 18W RMS output: full-range acoustic design for instrument practice, vocals and music playback.
  • Stem AI separation: isolate or remove drums, guitar and vocals from Bluetooth-streamed music in real time.
  • One guitar/microphone input: a simple connection for individual players.
  • Amp models & guitar effects: shape your tone with vintage and modern models, phaser, chorus and reverb.
  • Practice tools: built-in tuner, metronome and looper, plus pitch shifting.
  • Wired headphone connectivity: listen privately for quieter practice. Acoustic drums will still produce their own sound.
  • USB-C recording output: connect to your laptop to capture audio in your Digital Audio Workstation.
  • Up to 6 hours' battery life: portable power for practice away from a mains socket.
  • LED pixel screen & JBL One app: access settings and customise sound, practice tools and stem separation.

A compact way to make practice more musical

Choose the Solo if you want a portable, individual practice setup with useful backing-track control. For drummers, we love the ability to listen closely to a drum part, then take it out and play your own. For guitarists and singers, the instrument input and onboard tools make it useful beyond music playback.
