Mapex Saturn Evolution Exotic Maple/Walnut 6pc Drum Kit – 22", 18", 16", 12", 10", 8" – Aegean Fade
The Mapex Saturn Evolution Exotic Maple/Walnut Drum Kit in Aegean Fade is a premium professional shell pack combining the unmistakable Saturn sound with an expansive 22", 18", 16", 12", 10" and 8" six-piece configuration. Built around Mapex's renowned maple/walnut hybrid shells, this impressive setup delivers huge tonal range, powerful low end and exceptional versatility for demanding live and studio applications.
At the heart of the Saturn Evolution is its premium hybrid shell construction. Maple provides warmth, projection and clarity, while walnut contributes additional depth and low-frequency richness. Together, they create the powerful, full-bodied and highly musical sound that has become synonymous with the Mapex Saturn Series.
With three rack toms, two floor toms and a 22" bass drum, this configuration provides an enormous tonal palette while retaining a logical progression around the kit.
Expansive 6-Piece Configuration
This Saturn Evolution features an impressive selection of drum sizes:
-
22" Bass Drum
-
8" Rack Tom
-
10" Rack Tom
-
12" Rack Tom
-
16" Floor Tom
-
18" Floor Tom
The combination of 8", 10" and 12" rack toms provides a wide range of higher and mid-range voices, while the substantial 16" and 18" floor toms deliver huge depth and low-end authority.
Combined with the 22" bass drum, the result is a large professional setup capable of producing everything from detailed melodic tom passages to massive rock and progressive drum sounds.
Maple/Walnut Hybrid Shells
The defining sound of the Mapex Saturn Series comes from its maple/walnut hybrid shell construction.
Maple contributes warmth, projection and a balanced fundamental tone, while walnut adds darker low frequencies and additional depth. This combination gives the Saturn Evolution a rich, powerful sound with excellent definition and presence.
Across a configuration this large, the hybrid shell formula helps maintain a consistent tonal character while allowing each drum size to contribute its own distinct voice.
SONIClear Bearing Edges
Mapex SONIClear bearing edges are designed to optimise contact between the drumhead and shell, encouraging consistent tuning, resonance and a strong fundamental note.
Combined with the maple/walnut shells, this gives the Saturn Evolution a broad usable tuning range, allowing the drums to perform beautifully whether tuned deep and powerful or tighter for additional articulation.
Halo Mounting System
The Saturn Evolution features Mapex's Halo mounting system, designed to securely support the rack toms while allowing the shells to resonate freely.
This helps maximise the natural sustain and tonal character of the drums while providing the positioning flexibility required for a professional multi-tom configuration.
Premium Aegean Fade Finish
The stunning Aegean Fade finish gives this Saturn Evolution Exotic kit a suitably high-end appearance.
The graduated finish works beautifully with the exotic outer veneer, creating exceptional depth and visual detail across the shells. On a six-piece configuration of this scale, the result is an impressive centrepiece for both stage and studio environments.
