The headline change is a significantly longer shoulder than a standard 5A. This extended taper generates substantially more rebound, speed, and drive a difference that IfM's acoustic measurements confirmed with higher rebound rates compared to a conventional 5A Hickory. Yet despite the redesigned profile, the centre of gravity remains identical to a classic 5A, thanks to a rounded end that redistributes weight precisely. To maintain the familiar feel further, Rohema selected hickory from a heavier weight class, keeping the overall weight consistent while also benefiting from the higher-density wood's improved durability.
The taper at the butt end of the stick serves a dual purpose: it gives you a subtle haptic cue when your grip drifts from the optimal position, and when you flip the stick to play on the butt end, it's noticeably gentler on drum heads and practice pads. Every detail has been considered.
