SONOR Benny Greb Signature V2.0 13" x 5.75" Beech Snare Drum

Developed in collaboration with Benny Greb, the SONOR Benny Greb Signature V2.0 takes the hugely popular original 13" x 5.75" signature snare and adds a number of carefully considered upgrades, including SONOR's Dual Glide strainer, vintage-style Teardrop lugs and Benny's innovative internal MonoRail dampening system.

Handcrafted in Germany, the drum is built around a 9-ply, 5mm beech shell with a Scandinavian Birch outer veneer and distinctive Bubinga inlay. Its compact 13" diameter and 5.75" depth combine with 45° bearing edges to create a versatile, responsive snare designed around Benny's highly dynamic playing style.

German Beech Shell

The V2.0 features a 9-ply, 5mm Thin Beech shell manufactured using SONOR's CLTF (Cross Laminated Tension Free) process and Optimum Shell Measurement.

The Scandinavian Birch outer veneer is finished in semi-gloss and complemented by a decorative Bubinga wood inlay running around the shell, giving the drum its instantly recognisable appearance.

Dual MonoRail Dampening System

One of the standout features of the Benny Greb V2.0 is its pair of internal MonoRail dampeners.

One is fitted with Benny's “The Felt” dampening material, while the other uses “The Sheep”. Each dampener moves vertically along its own rail rather than swinging across the head, allowing quick and repeatable control over damping without interfering with the main playing area.

The dampening pads are also interchangeable, giving you even more flexibility when shaping the drum's response.

Teardrop Lugs & Dual Glide

Vintage-inspired SONOR Teardrop lugs bring classic styling to the V2.0 while incorporating the TuneSafe system to help maintain tuning stability.

SONOR's Dual Glide snare strainer provides smooth operation and precise snare-wire adjustment, while 2.3mm Power Hoops complete the setup.

FAQs

What is special about the Benny Greb V2.0 snare?

The V2.0 combines a thin German beech shell with several features developed around Benny Greb's playing, most notably the two internal MonoRail dampeners. It also features Teardrop lugs, a Dual Glide strainer and the distinctive Scandinavian Birch and Bubinga exterior.

How does the MonoRail dampening system work?

Two internal dampeners move vertically on dedicated rails, allowing you to quickly add or remove damping without the mechanism moving across the main playing area. One uses “The Felt” and the other “The Sheep” dampening material.

What is the shell made from?

The drum uses a 9-ply, 5mm German beech shell with a Scandinavian Birch outer veneer and decorative Bubinga inlay.

Is the Benny Greb Signature V2.0 made in Germany?

Yes. The shell is manufactured in Germany using SONOR's CLTF and Optimum Shell Measurement processes.

What's the difference between the original Benny Greb snare and V2.0?

V2.0 retains the 13" x 5.75" beech concept of the original but adds the Bubinga inlay, vintage-inspired Teardrop lugs, Dual Glide snare strainer and the twin MonoRail internal dampening system.
