Maple Shell Construction
The Superstar Classic is built on a foundation of 100% maple with Lacebark Pine outer plies. Maple is the benchmark shell material for good reason — it delivers a full, warm tone with a balanced frequency response and excellent sustain that works across virtually every genre and playing style. The tom, floor tom, and snare shells are constructed from 4 plies of maple with 2 outer plies of Lacebark Pine at 5mm, while the bass drum uses a more substantial 6-ply maple and 2-ply Lacebark Pine shell at 7mm for a deeper, more resonant kick sound. The Lacebark Pine outer plies also provide the canvas for the stunning Indigo Bintangor Burst finish.
Configuration
This 5-piece pack covers all the essentials: a 22"x16" bass drum, 10"x7" and 12"x8" rack toms, a 16"x14" floor tom, and a 14"x6.5" snare drum. The full-depth 16" bass drum gives the kick genuine weight and power, and the two rack toms open up your setup flexibility considerably over a 3-piece configuration. An MTH600 Double Tom Holder is included, using Tama's L-Rod and Omnisphere system for flexible, stable rack tom positioning.
Star-Mount System
Rather than routing mounting hardware through the shell interior, Tama's Star-Mount system connects to four points on the batter-side hoop, keeping the shell free to resonate without restriction. Bracket eye-bolts can also slide laterally, which helps prevent unwanted contact when positioning the two rack toms close together — useful for building a compact setup without compromising stability or shell vibration.
Low-Mass Hardware
The Superstar Classic uses compact, separate low-mass lugs throughout, minimising the hardware footprint on each shell surface and preserving the natural resonance of the maple construction. On the bass drum, stabilising claw hooks with built-in rubber lining protect the wooden hoops and help maintain tuning consistency through longer performances.
Ready to Play
Power Craft II drumheads are fitted across the shell pack, giving you a strong, usable sound from the off. The bass drum batter head features integrated ring mufflers that control overtones without requiring internal damping — keeping setup straightforward and your focus on playing rather than preparation.
Indigo Bintangor Burst Finish
The Indigo Bintangor Burst is one of the most visually distinctive finishes in the Superstar Classic range.
